Modelling Process:
Polygon Modeling: 
Polygon Modeling Preferences:
When editing preferences for a polygon's face selection you select faces in Maya the method is to click the dot in the centre of one of the faces to select it. There is a option to change the
behaviour so that you can click anywhere on a face to select it. In order to change the face selection preference select windows then go to settings/preferences then click the selection category.
Polygonal Modeling:
Polygons consist of geometry based on geometry which is based on vertices, faces and edges which are used to create three dimensional models in Maya.
Polygon Modeling Overview:
There is plenty of ways and techniques that are used to create 3d polygonal models in Maya.  There are primitive shapes
(three dimensional geometrical shapes)  available in Maya which include Spheres, Cubes, Cylinders, Cones, Planes and many more.
In Maya you can modify the attributes of basic primitives to either make them more complex or either less complex.
Polygon Modeling Panel:
There is a panel for polygon modeling includes tools for
switching sub-objects levels, navigating the modifier
stack, converting objects to editable poly and more.

Nurbs Modeling:
Definition:
Non-Uniform rational basis spline (NURBS) is a model commonly used in computer graphics for generating and representing curves and
surfaces. It offers great flexibility and precision for handling both analytic and modeled shapes
Used for more smoother affect, Known to be used for modelling cars

Subdivision Modeling:
Definition:
Is a method of representing a smooth surface via the specification of a coarser piecewise linear polygon mesh. Subdivisional Modeling would be used instead of Nurbs Modeling and Polygon modeling if the user wanted to create clean 3D models with great detailing that look good when rendered

Animation/Motion Generation
Keyframes:
A keyframe in animation and filmmaking defines the starting and ending points of any smooth transition. Keyframes in a sequence
defines which movement the viewer will see, whereas the position
of the keyframes on the film, video, or animation defines the
timing of the movement.

Lighting:
There are lights that can be used in Maya which can be placed by going to the create button on the top left of the screen and selecting the lighting option. There is multiple light options like the spot light and ambient light.
With the lights you can view their effects on an object by going to IPR button on the top of the screen. The lights are used to light up a specific part of the object making that part of the object stand out. The lights can also be animated by keyframes. To do this you first place the light and then press the S key after this move the arrow on keyframe to a later point and then move the
light to another point and press the S key again
in order to animate the light.

Camara:
Camara in maya can be used to record and follow certain objects placed/created. To make a camera in Maya go to the create button on the top left of the screen and then scroll down and pick the camera button in order to choose what sought of camera you would like to add to Maya. The Camera is used to record the surroundings of the area you have created in Maya it can also be used to get a close first person view of the objects you have created. It can also be animated by using keyframes and the S key.


Intended Application:
Film:
An example of a film which uses CGI involving Mia is The Lord Of The Rings which used maya for things such as their characters like Gollum, they also used Maya to create some of the landscapes of the film to add to the films
narrative and world.







Tv:
An example of Maya being used in a television show is the popular HBO show Game Of Thrones in Game of Thrones they use Maya to create believable landscapes as well as to bring to life mythical creatures
like the dragons









Video game:
Most video games use the Maya software with the creation of their games an example of one of those games is The Last Of Us created by Naughty Dog. In this game they use
the Maya software for a variety of things such as animating the characters facial expressions, it is also used for a characters body
movement and their lifelike features. They used maya to animate the faces so that they could show believable and realistic emotions on the characters faces in order to make the narrative believable as well as make the player feel like the world of the game is real
